Design smarter, simulate faster: unlocking engineering efficiency with SPDM at SLB
SLB is a global technology company advancing energy innovation for a balanced planet. While continuing to lead in Oil & Gas, we are also developing technologies that reduce emissions and meet growing energy demands on the path to net zero.
Over the past 15 years, SLB’s global Modeling & Simulation group has built over 5,000 physics-based models, accelerating product design and reducing time-to-market. Today, to manage the increasing complexity of these simulations, our Simulation Process and Data Management (SPDM) platform is evolving, leveraging modeFRONTIER, VOLTA, and Runbox to integrate simulation data into the broader enterprise digital thread. This transformation has already led to a net 40% reduction in simulation time, thanks to the reuse of configured and connected digital engineering processes and models, resulting in substantial efficiency gains.
In this talk, we will demonstrate how SLB has integrated over 50 CAD/CAE models within VOLTA to manage end-to-end simulation workflows. We will showcase the creation of automated multidisciplinary workflows for design optimization and model calibration, the development of reduced-order models for fast virtual prototyping and the deployment of 15+ on-demand, web-based Runbox applications supporting engineering, research, and operations across both core services and new energy domains. Success stories, key lessons learned, and ongoing challenges will be shared.
